Over the last couple of weeks I’ve had the absolute pleasure of watching my daughter get her 2nd Dan black belt and watch her win 3 medals in her recent competition. She is our very own ginger ninja!
So in honour of my gorgeous girl I thought I’d do a post honouring strong ginger females in literature.
Molly Weasley
Ahhhh Molly Weasley, the woman who raised 7 strong children, yes Percy may have been a tool but he admitted he was wrong in the end, and had no trouble accepting her son’s friends as her own. She was protective and fierce and had no trouble standing up for what she believed in.
Ginny Weasley
We can’t have Molly and not Ginny now could we. I’m talking about book Ginny rather than film Ginny as I feel she was better portrayed in the books. The caster of the best bat-bogey hex and not once ashamed of dating various boys despite others always bringing it up against her. Again she was strong and fought for her chance to fight along side her family and friends.
Nancy Drew
As a teenager I loved Nancy Drew. Who didn’t want to be a detective and solve mysteries with their friends? Despite the endless danger and threats she never gave up and always solved her mystery.
Anne Shirley
Anne was feisty, funny and never gave up even when life was hard. She looked after others and always helped where she could. She was never afraid to speak her mind or stand up for herself.
Pippi Longstocking
The freckled face, red haired girl with abnormal strength! She stood up to bullies, adults and children alike and proved that she could look after herself even after being told she couldn’t. She is proud of who she is and refuses to change to suit other people.
This is just a handful of strong red headed female characters that I could think of I know there are tons more. Tell me your favourites.
Nice compilation. π Molly and Ginny Weasley are indeed strong red-headed female characters.

A great list! Maybe I should make a list of curly haired strong characters π because itβs kind of a rarity xD (Anne was both red haired and curly!! And sheβs never portrayed as curly on the covers or the shows!!! I am furious about that π )

That’s a good idea! My daughter was amazed when Brave came out because Merida had curly red hair like hers π
