Synopsis
With just one look, she knows how and when you will die . . .
Nothing surprises Adam Brandt anymore. As a forensic psychologist, he’s seen and heard everything.
That is, until he meets Kassie.
Because she claims to have a terrible gift – with one look into your eyes, she can see when and how you will die.
Adam doesn’t believe her, obviously.
But then a serial killer starts wreaking havoc across the city, and only Kassie seems to know where he’ll strike next.
Against all his intuition, Adam starts to believe her.
He just doesn’t realise how dangerous this trust might be . . .

This was my first M.J Arlidge book but it definitely wont be the last! I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book given the description. Was it a thriller, was it a mystery or supernatural. The answer to that is it was all 3! The supernatural element is not too overdone, for me anyway. While it is obviously a heavily discussed subject it is not just accepted and is met with skepticism. It had very short chapters which made it very easy to say “Just one more”. I got completely sucked into the story. Each chapter is based around a different character and their part in the story or police investigation. Every now and again one of them is in the killers point of few, which is something I always enjoy.
Kassie saying she can see someone’s death is the starting point of this story and the main story along the hunt for the serial killer whose victims she has seen. Adam is the forensic psychologist brought in to assess her and all she wants him to do is believe. her. He understandably is skeptical especially when she tells him something that makes you wonder how the book will end right at the beginning. I felt for Kassie she has had a hard life and she is very much alone and all she wants is someone to listen and take her seriously. Adam does grow very protective of her throughout the book but he has his own personal problems that don’t always allow him to help.
I wouldn’t say this has a twist and there isn’t any big revelation at the end. That doesn’t mean the ending isn’t good or a surprise because it was. The ending didn’t go the way I expected and I loved it! I fully recommend this book even if you don’t necessarily like supernatural elements I think you could enjoy this book.
